Eel traps

Only a few willow eel traps still in use today but beautiful objects to look at and the making of them is a dying art. 

They tend to be about 3ft tall and can take many shapes as long as the eel can slither its way up through the bottom, can't get out again because of the sharp stick ends and has a bungable opening at the top from which to tip out the caught eels. 

If not intending to go eel catching then the wider ones can be used as stick stands and the slimmer ones as wall hangings.
