Hand Drumming
I've been involved in African hand drumming and percussion for the past few years and I'm a member of the
Dead Goat Appreciation Society,
the performance group of the DGAS women drummers based in New Buckenham
(see www.dgasmusic.org.uk).
Our website is: www.myspace.com/deadgoatappreciationsoc
We play West African, North African, Cuban and Haitian rhythms using djembé, bougarabou and dundun drums and incorporating mbira, gankogui Ghanaian bells, ndundu, clavé, shekere and tamborine.
We perform at local community events and so far this year we've played at: Tina Garwood's Have A Heart Charity Fundraiser in Norwich, Hoxne Music Festival, Open Mic at the Banham Barrel, DGAS Summer Camp at Burston, Appleyard Fayre in Banham, Family Fun Day at Wayland Community High School in Watton, Norwich Pride's Picnic in the Park in Chapelfield Park and we've got more booked in our diaries.
I'm also a member of
The Pram Band
which comprises Trevor Ault, me and a pram laden with drums and percussive bits. We specialize in busking (cos of the perambulatory nature of our set-up!) but are equally at home in a fixed environment.
So far, we've played in Norwich, Banham, Eye, Hoxne, both busking and at booked gigs.
