Basketry Courses
I run afternoon classes on basketry from my home in Diss. Every so often I take on two or three students for 8 - 10 weeks (one afternoon/week) and we learn how to make round baskets in the English tradition.
My intention is to pass on enough knowledge to the students such that they can, if they wish, continue making round baskets on their own once the course has finished. To this end, there is a steady progression through the weeks of learning a certain aspect of the process and then practising at home between sessions as well as during the class, before moving on to the next step. The classes are kept small to allow for focussed attention on the student and the detail.
The cost is £15 per student per session and a one-off payment of £40 for materials for the whole course.
If you're interested in coming along then do get in touch.
If, after attending this course, students want to continue their learning to include, for example, oval and square work, log baskets and bike baskets I am happy to facilitate this once they have bought their own willow from a supplier.
