I see drummers for their first session on their own so I can see whether it's useful for them to join an already running small group (and, if so, which one) or whether they might benefit from a few more one2one sessions. Through using this method I've found people can progress at their own pace, get the attention they need on particular points of practice and get more out of their experience of group drumming.
We play polyrhythms originating mainly from Ghana and Guinea. Very often the small groups that I teach concentrate on aspects of one or two of these rhythms over a six week period and then the people in these groups, if they choose, join together with other drummers for an afternoon in Dickleburgh (see below) where the whole rhythms are put together.
The Sunday Sessions
for improver and intermediate drummers
This is an opportunity for drummers of mixed ability to work on and play intricate Ghanaian and Guinean drum rhythms on a Sunday afternoon in Dickleburgh, just outside Diss.
Time: 2 pm - 5 pm
Dates: Sunday 10 June (then 22 July, 2 September)
